Sharon decided to become a psychotherapist came after realizing this was where her deep calling met the needs of the world. Her ability to compassionately hold suffering has been honed over many years, and comes with well-earned wisdom about the challenges of this life as a human. Her studies in family systems, healthy aging, somatic therapy, DBT and EMDR have given her cutting edge knowledge and skill to integrate with her natural gifts and joyful nature.
Sharon brings a wealth of professional and personal life experience to her therapy work including mothering, caregiving, attending to the dying, teaching special education, and running her own business as an artist representative. She has even built--with her own hands, and the help of some others-- a canoe...AND this beautiful retreat in Hawaii on ground sacred to and protected by the Goddess Pele. She has learned to thrive through the guidance of her intuition, intelligence, compassion and humor.
Sharon has particular interest in developmental trauma and attachment injuries, and the resulting anxiety and depression that usually accompanies those experiences. Her training and focus in somatic psychotherapy and EMDR allows her to genuinely and effectively help those who carry the legacy of old wounds. Sharon's most unique gift is her skill in working with those at all stages of the lifespan. She has been called the "mother whisperer" due to her excellent work with struggling families with teens. She is an excellent ear for those in mid-life wondering what's next. And she is keen to continue working with elders and families who are facing end of life transitions.
