The therapy "hour" is a 50-minute session, reserved for you each week in person or via secure video or phone call.
Weekly individual sessions usually last 50 minutes. Individual sessions of EMDR and couples therapy often require 75 or 90 minutes, and the fee is then prorated accordingly.
Payment is expected at the time of service and can be made through, Zelle, Venmo , or credit card. We can provide you with a superbill (statement of services) for reimbursement though your health savings account or insurance company.
Many people wonder about the cost of therapy, counseling, life coaching, etc. Private practice therapists are self-supporting business owners who have to provide their own medical insurance, vacation pay, sick pay, retirement savings, and disability insurance, on top of paying student loans, office rent, fees for training and professional development, etc. Because of the kind of therapy we practice, we limit our caseload in order to care for our own mental well-being.
Bob is a contracted provider for Cigna/Evernorth, MHN, Blue Cross, Medi-Cal, Optum, Beacon, and TriWest.
Marilyn is a contracted provider for Cigna/Evernorth.
Most plans do offer out-of-network benefits, covering a percentage of their contracted rate. Check with your insurer for more information. We can always provide you with a superbill for reimbursement.
Many therapists offer sliding scale fees for those whose income prohibits them from paying the usual fee. If this describes you, and you feel we are a perfect fit for the work you want to do, please ask for a consult. We may be able to negotiate a fee that works for both of us. If not, we will happily provide you with personal referrals based on your needs. The right therapist at the right fee is important so you can continue as long as you need to for optimal benefit.
